Flutist Sabatino Scirri has appeared as soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale and various groups across North America and Europe. He served as guest principal flutist with the Sinaloa Symphony (Mexico), Slee Sinfonietta and Greater Annapolis Ballet Orchestra.
Career highlights include the New York premiere of Ezra Laderman’s June 29th for solo flute at Carnegie Hall, performing with members of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and working in collaboration with composers Philip Glass and Charles Wuorinen. He has performed for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, His Holiness Pope Francis, world leaders, former presidents, foreign dignitaries and heads of state. His performances have been broadcast worldwide by CNN, EWTN, CCTV (China) and recorded on Tower, Albany and Tactus Records (Italy). Dr. Scirri holds an Artist Diploma (Yale School of Music – studies with Ransom Wilson), DMA (Catholic University – studies with Aaron Goldman), BM, MM (SUNY Buffalo – studies with Cheryl Gobbetti Hoffman).
A dedicated educator, Dr. Scirri believes that high quality music education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of socio-economic status. He offers individual lessons on a sliding fee scale and welcomes all students, including adult learners.
